Statement to our Community, Staff, Physicians and Volunteers

From the Almonte General Hospital/Fairview Manor Foundation Board Chair Al Lunney

The Foundation Board was advised of missing cash on September 24, 2014.  As a result, Foundation Board Representatives have:

·         Met with representatives of the Almonte Branch of the Bank of Montreal

·         Reported the loss to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and requested a full investigation

·         Informed the donor of the missing funds

·         Committed to work with the Foundation’s external auditors to review and make recommendations to improve the Foundation’s procedures for handling cash donations

 Nothing is more important to the Foundation Board of Directors than the trust our community places in us to be the responsible stewards of their donations.  . Please be assured that the Foundation Board of Directors is fully aware of the situation and is taking every possible step to ensure that the interests of our donors and the Foundation are protected.

 As this is an ongoing OPP investigation, the Foundation Board of Directors is not in a position to provide any further comment at this time.
